Nicole Asselta

After the birth of my first child, I went to Elizabeth Seton’s mommy and me baby yoga class and immediately fell in love with yoga. After intermittently practicing yoga for years, I attended Peter Levine’s Somatic Experiencing training workshop in New York City. Somatic Experiencing aims at relieving and resolving trauma and symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and other physical trauma related health problems by focusing on the client’s perceived body sensations or somatic experiences. This study deepened my desire to learn more about yoga and explore my own somatic experiences. Changes in my personal life—my children were growing exponentially fast with my youngest entering Kindergarten—combined with my curiosity about my inner world led me to the Yoga Polarity Center in Malverne, NY where I trained as a Registered Yoga Teacher (200 hours) and as a Registered Child Yoga Teacher (100 hours).

They say the whole is the sum of its parts. It’s with this in mind that I hope to combine my parts–Licensed Clinical Social Worker expertise, Yoga training and life experience–to promote self discovery, relaxation and balance in the lives of adults, kids and teens.
